Violence Prevention

Russell House is dedicated to providing community members with Primary Prevention activities within the Socio-Ecological Model, in order to achieve the goal of ending violence in our communities, the society and the world.  Russell House uses the CDC definition and model of Prevention for Diseases as a guideline for Prevention of Violence, a disease that is a preventable through education and on-going support systems.

Russell House uses Primary Prevention to engage and educate the community as a whole about preventing violence from initially happening.  Primary Prevention is about social change- changing our attitudes and beliefs about behaviors, in particular violence against women and in general, violence against one another.

Here at the Russell House, we are dedicated to bringing Primary Prevention to our local community, school administration, parents, and most particularly among the youth through our: Youth Violence Prevention Program.  

It is a free program that engages adolescences and adults in ongoing discussions and activities about:

Sexual Harassment
Dating Violence
Healthy relationships
Sexual violence
Intimate partner violence
Bystander intervention
Stalking
